IT Nation Connect 2025: the City of BSN

Disclosure

I was engaged by Breach Secure Now for this program, through SALT Strategies.

The brief was a vendor booth at IT Nation Connect in November 2025. The result was a handcrafted racetrack city, a toy car in every one of the 3,600 attendee swag bags, and a booth that stayed full.

The problem every booth has

Some show floors have hundreds of booths. A vendor has to answer one question before the doors open: why would anyone walk over to yours?

The usual answers are swag and a value proposition. Neither one is a reason to stop. Here’s the truth: your first close is the booth stop itself, and you only get it if the visit feels like an experience rather than a pitch.

Where the theme came from

Before I designed anything, I read the event. I reviewed the prospectus and the agenda to check the audience matched Breach Secure Now’s message and its product launches. IT Nation’s welcome keynote that year was about how AI is reshaping the MSP. BSN was launching AI awareness training, and Art Gross, its CEO, had just published From Prompt to Profit, a book on AI for MSPs. The fit was right there on the agenda.

Then the booth questions. How do we tie the booth to BSN’s brand and growth story? What would make MSPs stop, smile and stay a while? And how do we match the event’s narrative without giving everything away, so there is still something to talk about when someone walks up?

The answer was a theme about momentum. BSN’s message was simple: before you accelerate with AI, you build awareness. That is how you win the race.

What we built

I ran this engagement on the SALT framework, the method SALT Strategies used for it. It has four stages: Source, Anchor, Light and Thrive.

Source. We needed something that would literally drive people to the booth. A BSN-branded toy car went into every one of the 3,600 attendee swag bags. The car was the invitation. Bring it by, and race.

Anchor. The track was the City of BSN, a handcrafted miniature community. Every landmark was one piece of what BSN sells: BSN University, CatchPhish Pond, PII Garage, the Prompt to Profit Cinema. Their city, their roadmap, their story. The race put the message in the order BSN wanted it heard: awareness first, then acceleration.

Light. Design and storytelling carried Art’s book onto the floor, down to a grey Porsche and the line from it that AI should be your co-pilot, not the driver.

Thrive. Then we watched it work.

The team side mattered as much as the build. Before the show we ran a team alignment agenda so every voice told the same story, a shared look from attire to talking points, a pre-show briefing on booth expectations, the keynote themes and the event hashtags, and etiquette reminders, because your brand travels with you from the expo to the afterparty.

What happened

Art’s breakout session was standing room only. The booth stayed full, and racers competed for Awareness to Acceleration prizes.

“Tracie Crites - you did an amazing job! The booth, the breakout session and tons of engagement. Thank you so much for all the effort you put in to make us successful! SALT Strategies definitely delivered!”

What to take from it

The car worked because it was not swag for its own sake. It was the first touch, it carried the theme, and it gave the visitor a reason to walk over that had nothing to do with being sold to. If you are designing a booth, start there: what does the visitor get to do, and does it tell your story while they do it?
